Team Virage had an impressive week-end in Ultimate Cup Series at Portimao, demonstrating strong performance throughout the event.
Thursday, first day of testing, saw the #88 car, driven by Dani Macia, top the results in the second practice session and maintained a strong performance throughout the day. The #1 car also showed high pace, securing the fifth fastest overall lap time among 34 cars.
On the following day, the #88 car continued to impress, placing P2 in the sole session of the day, raising hopes for a successful qualifying. The sister #1 car also performed well, running with good pace and securing P9.
Qualifying day in the heat of Portimao was focused and intense for both cars. A good performance from all six drivers resulted in the #1 car securing P4 and the #88 car P5, positioning the team well for the 6-hour race.
The week-end culminated in a thrilling victory in the 6 Hours of Portimao. The #1 car, driven by Georgios Kolovos, Sacha Lehmann and Axel Gnos secured the overall win, including more than one lap advantage on its closest competitor, with a flawless drive and strategy. Despite the #88 car being up for a superb result, it was hit by a competitor in turn 1, leading to its retirement.
Team Virage, with back to back wins, now turns its focus to the next challenge in the Ultimate Cup Series at Hockenheim from the 4th to the 7th of July, ready to build on their recent success.
