A competitive weekend for the Aston Martin Vantage of Team Virage as they competed in their first ever 24hr series race.
On Saturday the 8th of July Team Virage competed at the GT4 category of the 24hrs series race of Portimao at the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve. The drivers during this race were CO. Jones, Peter Peters, regular LMP3 driver Thomas Padovani and ex-F1 and 24h of Le Mans winner Pedro Lamy. Team Virage was off to a great start.
The car was very competitive during the first part of the race. Pedro Lamy, who took the steering wheel as the first driver, managed to get the Aston Martin into a good position. All of the drivers where very close to each other with Pedro Lamy as reference. At one point in the race was fighting for victory.
Unfortunately, as CO. Jones was behind the steering wheel the car started suffering from an electrical issue. Due to this issue it had to return to the pit garage. It took approximatively one hour before the Aston Martin was able to go on track to compete again. Restarting from 4th in its category, the car crossed the finish line at the third place.
Considering the fact that it was the first ever 24hrs series race the entire team of Virage could look back on a successful race.
