After a great start in the first three rounds in the Ultimate Cup Series, Team Virage is now heading to Madrid to make its debut in the GT4 South European Series on Circuit del Jarama.
Whereas the kick-off of the GT4 season already took place at the French circuit Nogaro, Team Virage now joins the competition in the second round with its two brand new Aston Martin cars. After a few tests in Valencia and Donington, the team feels ready and excited to get started on this new adventure.
The 3,404 km long Circuito Permanente del Jarama had the honour to hold nine Formula 1 races for the Spanish Grand Prix. The circuit was designed by Dutchman Hans Hugenholtz, who also designed Zolder and Suzuka, and was built by Alessandro Rocci in 1967 north of Madrid. The circuit has a short straight section, is very narrow and has angular curves which makes it overtaking a challenge, as demonstrated by Gilles Villeneuve by winning the 1981 race with four cars behind him that were clearly faster.
On Honey Ryder, car 94, we welcome our new 23-year-old team member Nicolas Silva and the Austrian Jon Aizpurua. On Elektra King, the 95, the British Co. Jones is joined by the wonderful named Dutch Peter Peters.
Julien Gerbi – Team Manager : “Our first tests with the Aston Martin cars went really well, and all our drivers are really excited to join this event. The organisers RaceReady Portugal did a great job to get this championship on feet in a short time, and the grid looks quite interesting with the GT4 and GTC cars. We will do our best to get a good result there and start our collaboration with Aston Martin on the best note as possible.”
